About TrulyEpic!!

FAQ’s

Hey, Whatsup

-Hey, Nothing much

Who the hell are you?

-I’m Jerry Nowlin. I’m the guy responsible for all this.

Oh, you wanted some more.

I’ve been into comics for some time now, but I never really realized how much so until I decided to start up Trulyepic. When I was really young (small kid), I read  Garfield, Heathcliff, Beetle Bailey and a whole shit ton more I can’t remember. As I got older, I got into others. I was a huge Spy vs. Spy fan when I got into my MAD magazine phase. My dad and I both loved Farside. He has volumes of Farside books and calenders at home. My interest in comic strips eventally got replaced when I got into comic books. X-men, Ghostrider, and Spawn where my favorites.

Looking back, I drew my first comic for a contest when I was in 6th grade. The good news is that I won, and my comic got into the local paper. The bad news…it was an editorial cartoon,  and I’m not a fan. I’ve not done an actual comic strip since then, not until I started up Trulyepic. However, I have drawn a LOT of cartoons and comic book characters in between now and then.

I decided to start up Trulyepic, for a lot of reasons. One, I love games and being a geek in general. Two, I love comics…soo I decided to make my own. Three, I would love to draw and be creative for a living and yes, I am currently in the process of a degree to help get that done. Those are my main reasons for doing all this.

TrulyEpic? What’s that?

-Trulyepic is a story based webcomic / blog / review site. It’s primarily just a geek webcomic but I do focus a LOT on games. Why? Because I play video games a lot, I love that shit. I post the comics on Mon, Wed and Fridays. It’s story based for the most part, but on occasion I do post a gag-a-day strip that has nothing to do with the story. I use those to make fun of anything and everything.

Ugh! A gaming comic?

-Yeah…pretty much. I know people think its cliché, but I write and draw about what I like. I was the kid in the class room that quoted Duke Nukem, geeked out over Final Fantasy VII, and wrote volumes of Mortal Kombat fatality code. I was self conscious of it then, but that time is long since over.  I’m a 100% non-apologetic nerd… geek… dork whatever the fuck you wanna call me. I love games, pop-culture and anything labeled geek , it’s what I am and it’s what I love. I will try very hard not to mimic the work of my predecessors if that is your concern.

Who the hell are these other guys?  Jerry, Shawn and Gary?

-That is an excellent question. Appearance wise, the main characters in this comic are loosely based on me (Jerry) and two of my friends (Shawn and Gary). They are actual people that I work with and not some figment of my imagination. You may even see them comment or post on the site from time to time, or all the fucking time, I dunno.  That’s pretty much where it ends though. Personality wise all three characters are parodies of their real-life counterparts. Sometimes I add some of my own personality quirks, habits and random shit in the mix.

Why “TrulyEpic?”

-I dunno, Why not? It’s catchy…easy to remember right?

What do you use to create your comic strips?

-I’m digital for now. I use Photoshop CS3, a Wacom Intuos 3 and my computer. I’ve thought about doing my linework and dialogue traditionally but right now it’s all digital.

Who did your webdesign?

-Tyler Martin a.k.a. Mind Faucet. This guy is a badass and I highly recommend him. I tweek it and do some extra stuff to it but only with a deep fear that I will break the whole thing. (and I have) I don’t know shit about html code and website haxorz.

I love this shit!! How can I help?

-I’ve got all kinds of ways for you to help out.

1. Link it. I’ve got a few banners to help you out right here.

5. You can donate to the site! Your support is VERY much appreciated. I’m even looking for ways to reward you for your support. Bow Chicka Bow Wow!!

Holy Shit!! Are you serious?

-Relax, it’s probably going to be Desktop Wallpapers and Icons. Stuff like that.

How do I give you my interesting thoughts,  crazed ramblings, or fan mail?

-I have a contact page here

Do you do commissions or freelance work?

Indeed I do. You can contact me by email at jerry@trulyepic.com. Please don’t use the contact page to get in touch with me. It can get bogged down with fan mail and that can take me time to go through.
