How did it all get started?

Spiderman would say “It’s not for the faint of heart.”

To be honest though, I always thought Spiderman was kind of a bitch

anyway,

I was sitting one day…bored…listening to my IPod and thinking deep thoughts. I wondered out loud, “Why do zombies have such a hankering for brains?” “I’ll show you.” came a voice from behind, as I felt a needle to the neck.

I woke up tied to a chair with Dr. Hannibal Lecter M.D. ranting away about my mind being a “zombie smorgasbord” and how he couldn’t wait to “dig in.” As he began removing the skull cap, I couldn’t help but think two things. One, I remember Lecter being way more articulate and “Wow, this REALLY hurts.”

As he sawed away and pierced the veil between my mind and the rest of the world…or my skull for short, a bright light began filling the room. Undeterred, the doctor removed the skull cap and an explosion of light and sound erupted. Light brighter than a thousand suns with the singing of angels mixed with the music of demons filled the room. Lecter was instantly incinerated, but it was far too late.

Pandora’s box was open.

The gravity of the situation rendered me unconscious.

I woke up to a strange new world. A world I no longer recognized as my own. I couldn’t navigate this vast land on my own. I would need help. My request was granted. My spirit guide emerged from thin air in the form of a magnificent nude woman…

covered head to toe in BBQ sauce!

I stood shocked for what seemed like an eternity. Finally words began to formulate…and I spoke.

“What…the…Fuck?”

“What the fuck indeed, I will show you,” she retorted

She led me through this new strange land and showed me many wondrous things. Wonders beyond description, beyond words. She told me fantastic stories, and said that all of this, everything sprang forth from my mind. She then began to prophesize about how I would go forth and create a comic…a webcomic. How I would fill it with things I found to be…TrulyEpic!!

Again I was speechless, my mind was blown quite literally. I could only form  one sentence, a question in which I absolutely had to ask and could not wait.

“Why the hell are you covered in BBQ sauce?”

She responded, “I have no fucking clue.”

That’s when I awoke.

I had a purpose…I had a goal.

 

Eat some BBQ,

Draw some comics.

TrulyEpic!! is a geek webcomic/blog created by me, Jerry Nowlin. It’s primarily just a geek webcomic, but I do focus ALOT on video games. I post the comics on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I tried the story based comic for awhile and it really didn’t pan out for me, so I decided to do a gag-a-day strip. Basically I take something from pop culture and video games and make fun of it. I rip into it good…then I move on to my next target.

I know what you’re thinking, “Ugh, another gaming comic?” All I have to say is “Yeah, pretty much.” I know people think it’s cliché, but I write and draw about what I like. I was the kid in the class room that could quote Duke Nukem, (honestly, who can’t now) I geeked out over Final Fantasy VII, and wrote volumes of Mortal Kombat fatality code. I was self conscious of it then, but that time is LONG since over with. I am a 100% non-apologetic nerd, geek, dork, whatever the fuck you wanna call me. I love games, pop-culture and anything labeled geek. It’s what I am and it’s what I love.
