About Jerry

Jerry was cast and molded just outside the motor city, where he was lulled to sleep by the sounds of Detroit Rock City. He was then captured, packaged and shipped to the south. He landed in Tennessee where he was injected with southern hospitality and redneck charm. Then marinated in Jack Daniels for good measure. He was soon saved by a pack of geeks, where he was raised on cartoons, comics, and sci-fi. They saw that he excelled in video games and thrived on music and movies. He was then thrown into the world with nothing but paper and pencil. His creative juices began to flow and once he put that pencil to paper, he couldn’t be stopped.

Oh, you wanted some more…

Hi, I’m Jerry Nowlin. I’m the guy responsible for all this.

I’ve been into comics for some time now, but I never really realized how much so until I decided to start up Trulyepic. When I was really young, I read  Garfield, Heathcliff, Beetle Bailey and a whole shit ton more I can’t remember. As I got older, I got into others. I was a huge Spy vs. Spy fan when I got into my MAD magazine phase. My dad and I both loved Farside. He has volumes of Farside books and calendars at home. My interest in comic strips eventually got replaced when I got into comic books. X-men, Ghostrider, and Spawn were my favorites. Thank god my tastes have matured since then.

Looking back, I drew my first comic for a contest when I was in 6th grade. I won the contest and got my first ever comic strip in the news paper. It was an editorial comic so it really wasn’t that funny. That was my first taste in comics. I would go on to draw more, not to mention designing comic book and video game characters. Needless to say,  I have drawn a LOT between then and now.

I decided to start up Trulyepic, for a lot of reasons. One, I love games and being a geek in general. Two, I love comics…so I decided to make my own.  Most importantly, I just want to make you laugh. I like doing that.

Thanks,

Jerry
